Dear friends:
Welcome to New Poetry Review (NPR). The
focus of NPR is, as the subtitle says, on "One Poem at a Time." We
are looking for poets who care about poetry as craft and art. New Poetry Review
is for everyone from neophyte to experienced poet.
Discussion can range from a close reading of the poem, in the manner of New Criticism, to a more wide-ranging treatment of the world in which the poem is embedded. But the center of all discussion ought to be the poem itself. That is what I hope will make NPR unique.
As
the founder of New Poetry Review, I
encourage you to seek the fellowship
of other poets. We have at your disposal
a Forum, a Chat service, and Books
section, a list of books by our poets
and sponsored publishers. All of these
services are provided free of charge.
We
hope you will consider joining New
Poetry Review. Membership is open
to all native speakers
of English. To become a member, just
contact me at the address below, tell
me a little about yourself and I'll
register you and activate your account.
Registration is free. Everyone who
has a legitimate interest in poetry
is welcome. I will also need your username
and password. After registration, you
can always change your password and
general configuration in your profile.
For
a full discussion of the specifics of
how to use the various features of New
Poetry Review, please see Administrator's
Corner in the NPR Forum. For
those of you who are new to poetry, I
recommend the seven lectures on the Craft
of Poetry online. See link at left.
The
New Poetry Review is a non-commercial
site. While we do promote books by forum
members in our Books section, we
ourselves
are not involved in actually selling
them nor do we profit in any way from
their sale.
Finally,
in addition to the forum, NPR includes
two special sections (see menu links
above): Russian Poetry
(RusPoet)
and Russian
Jewish Poetry (RusJew).
